Protect yourself in the Sun

Don't get burned

As a Sun Protection Accredited club, we have pledged to raise awareness of sun protection to our staff and members. Melanoma is one of the UK’s fastest rising cancers, mainly affecting those who spend lots of time outdoors without sun protection. Incidence in women has more than doubled, and for men tripled in the last 30 years.

1. Keep sunscreen (SPF30+), sunglasses, a hat and large umbrella in your golf bag.
2. Apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before teeing off to ensure it is effective.
3. Reapply sunscreen every two hours on sunny days, or around the 9th hole.
4. Check skin every month or so and if you spot any changes, visit your GP immediately.

World Handicap System

Get your NEW WHS Handicap

The World Handicap System launched in November 2020. It is designed to welcome more players, to make golf easier to understand and to give all golfers a handicap which is portable all around the globe.

It has been developed by The R&A and The United States Golf Association (USGA), supported by the world’s handicapping authorities, including CONGU, which represents the four home countries of Great Britain and Ireland.

To make the game more enjoyable, the new system includes:

Course rating and slope rating
Minimum number of scores to obtain a handicap
Competitive and recreational scores to count for handicap
Handicaps will be calculated from an average of recent scores
Maximum handicap of 54
Abnormal course and weather conditions adjustments

Greener Golf

Encouraging nature and sustaianility

Golf can be a real force for good. It’s great for health and wellbeing and it can also show the world what good environmental management looks like.

We take our environmental responsibilities seriously.

10KW Solar Panels installed on the Golf Range Roof
Irrigating only when required and keeping the use of pesticides to a minimum.
The turf on the course is mainly browntop bents and fine fescues, these are ideal to establish the most sustainable turf, requiring the least input of water and fertilisers.
We encourage wildlife in the rough areas by leaving certain areas longer and nuturing tree growth.
